Overview

The program was designed to run under the Windows operating system. It has been tested using Windows XP and Windows 7.

It can create the 4 types of diskettes usable in Roland's Atelier™ R, S & SL Series Organs using the data available on the "Atelier Users Group" USB Stick, by searching the contents of the stick for the relevant files, and copying them to the floppy drive. Multiple disks may be created depending upon the number of files being copied. Any changes to the filenames are automatically made to ensure no duplicate names reside on the same diskette. It can also be used to copy to other sticks.

The program may also be used to view information on the individual files without creating any diskettes, and is therefore useful to users of Atelier organs with USB facilities. You may copy the list to the clipboard, where, as a comma separated list, it can be pasted into any Windows product, e.g. Notepad/Word, and further manipulated. Currently, viewing of Midi Files is not available.

When you insert the AUG stick into a USB socket on your computer, Windows will tell you its address (a single alphabetic character) at the top of the action panel (see example below). Use this, together with the colon(:) when using this program. It is normal for the floppy drive to be addressed as A:

If you have previously copied the contents of the stick to a hard drive, you may enter the fully qualified address of the root folder of the stick e.g. e:\myfiles\AUGStick - do not specify the final \

To use the utility to purely view the contents of the files, select the "View Only" option in the "Process Options" box. In this case, information regarding creating diskettes will not be available.

You may either use blank floppy disks, or previously used disks of the same type (if you request deletion) , but the program will only delete files of the same type as it is creating, e.g. you may reuse a previously used registrations diskette in the registrations section, but DO NOT use a midi files diskette. In this case, ensure you manually delete all files on the diskette(s) before you commence copying.

Please note that floppy disks are relatively slow devices. Some versions of Windows will believe that the program has "Stopped Responding" when doing things like deleting files from the diskette. This is normal, so please be patient, and wait for the process to finish.

This software product is Freeware. The software product may be installed on any number of computers that you own, lease or administer. The product may be stored on as many computers/media as desired for backup purposes. The product may be redistributed only if the entire contents of the installation package are kept intact. 1) Styles.

Select this function, enter the address of the stick (e.g. J:), or the fully qualified address of the disk folder, together with the address of the floppy drive (usually A:).

If you wish to view Style names, select "View Only", and enter the stick address. Scroll down the list as required. When complete, press the "Return" button. The two columns can be sorted to aid finding specific styles. Press the appropriate button to sort the relevant column. The list can be copied to the clipboard for pasting into any appropriate Windows product e.g. Notepad/Word. Note that the order displayed is the order copied, therefore use the sort buttons prior to copy to sort the copied list.

Ensure you have inserted a blank or previously used Styles floppy disk in the drive. If the latter, select the delete option and press CREATE.

You will be asked to replace disks as the process continues.

Note that the drive addresses can reference a disk folder (e.g. "C:\Organfiles\AUG\AUGStick") if you have previously copied the whole stick contents to your harddrive. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU SELECT DELETE, ANY STYLES IN THE RECEIVING FOLDER WILL BE DELETED WHETHER OR NOT IT IS A FLOPPY DISK. A text file is also created on each disk containing the filename and Style Name contained on that disk.

This process currently creates up to 5 diskettes.

2) Registrations

Select this function, enter the drive letter of the USB stick, (or the full path to the folder containing the stick's contents) and the floppy drive.

If you wish to view Registration names, select "View Only", and enter the stick address. Scroll down the list as required. When complete, press the "Return" button. The two columns can be sorted to aid finding specific registrations. Press the appropriate button to sort the relevant column. The list can be copied to the clipboard for pasting into any appropriate Windows product e.g. Notepad/Word. Note that the order displayed is the order copied, therefore use the sort buttons prior to copy to sort the copied list.

Ensure you have inserted a blank or a previously used Registrations diskette in the drive, select whether you require 'Standard', 'Star' and/or 'Plus' notated registrations, and press "Create".

You will be prompted to replace diskettes as the process progresses. 90 registrations are created per diskette. Note that 3 disks are currently created if you just select "Standard" registrations. The registrations are automatically renamed (01 to 90) as they are copied to allow them to be placed in the same diskette. A text file is also created detailing original folder and filename, together with the title of the registration.

3) MidiFiles  (SONGS)

Select this function, enter the drive letter of the USB stick, (or the full path to the folder containing the stick's contents) and the floppy drive.

Ensure you have inserted a blank or a previously used Midi Files diskette in the drive, and press "Create".

You will be prompted to replace diskettes as the process progresses. Should there be identically named midi files on the stick, the latter file will replace the former if it will reside on the same diskette. These files (also known as SMF files) can also be played (and edited with sequencing software) on a computer.

4) Performances  (SONGS)

Select this function, enter the drive letter of the USB stick, (or the full path to the folder containing the stick's contents) and the floppy drive.

If you wish to view Performance names, select "View Only", and enter the stick address. Scroll down the list as required. When complete, press the "Return" button. The two columns can be sorted to aid finding specific performances. Press the appropriate button to sort the relevant column. The list can be copied to the clipboard for pasting into any appropriate Windows product e.g. Notepad/Word. Note that the order displayed is the order copied, therefore use the sort buttons prior to copy to sort the copied list.

Ensure you have inserted a blank or a previously used Performance Files diskette in the drive, and press "Create".

The performance files will be automatically renamed to allow them to be placed on the same diskette. A text file is also produced on the disk, showing the location of the original files and their new name.

You will be prompted to replace diskettes as the process progresses.
