THE ATELIER STORY

In Japan just after the Second World War Ikutaro Kakehashi started an electronics shop repairing and selling TVs and Radios. He enjoyed music and wanted to play an instrument, but a piano would have been too big for his home and nobody wanted him to play the violin for fear of the awful sound in the early stages. It was then he began to think about an electronic instrument - He thought that he could then learn to play that with headphones and nobody would complain! This is when his interest in building an electronic musical instrument started. Later, he was asked to repair an electronic organ imported from the United States. When he looked at the circuitry inside this instrument he understood how it worked and began to realise how he might build his own
